Things to Do with Your Kids on Family Fun Night
When’s the Last Time You Had a Family Fun Night at Home?
4 Things to Do with Your Kids on Family Fun Night
It it time to schedule your next family fun night? If your family is like most, the answer is almost definitely, “YES!” In fact, according to an article on the website Mirror, parents spend just 34 minutes day with their children because of the distractions inherent in a stressful life.
We all know how it happens. Everyone comes home tired, worn out, stressed out, and wanting some peace and quiet. Kids go to their rooms to don gamer headsets and the video games start. Parents are taking care of the mail, paying bills, running laundry, checking homework, and getting dinner on the table.
Before you know it, everybody’s in their own room doing their own thing.
Once everyone’s finished eating dinner (maybe together, maybe not), everyone’s so tired that the easiest way to spend some time together is to park in front of the TV. There you stay until someone starts falling asleep.
But it doesn’t have to be like that! Especially if you’ve got an inground pool in your backyard. Your custom pool is the perfect place for family time.
Here are some family activity ideas of things to do with your kids. You’ll all have such a nice time of family bonding without even leaving your home or spending an arm and a leg. If you’ve got an inground swimming pool, you’re halfway there to a mini Florida staycation.
- Make a tradition of unwinding, poolside. Gather together for a half hour or so at the end of each day. Pour everyone a sparkling beverage and hop onto floats in your pool to drift around. Take turns telling about the best moment of your day.
- Dine al fresco. Take the whole dinner show outside onto your lanai – including cooking, if you’ve got an outdoor kitchen or a grill. Food just tastes better out in the fresh air. Plus, you won’t have to heat up your whole house just to cook dinner.
- Dance party time! Crank up some tunes and dance until you feel like you’ll drop. The crazier the moves, the better. If you don’t feel silly, you’re not doing it right.
- Read together. Why not take story time out to the pool? Sit on the side, dangling your feet over the edge into the water. Don’t worry about getting the book a little damp – the memories will be worth it. Plus, your wigglers will have a good outlet for their energy while you spend time bonding.
Don’t limit yourself to taking a quick dip in the pool, surrendering the pool to your kids and their friends, or treating your pool like a piece of art you look at but never enjoy in 3-D. What you’ll find is that the more often you schedule family time in your backyard pool, the more you’ll love it. It might not be easy at first to let go of the cares of the day, but once you learn how to do that, your whole life will feel more satisfying and peaceful.
